On kickers and audiences

This blog is not really about making opinions or commentary on pop culture. (But I could change my mind about that in the future.)  However, I think we can take some time  to reflect what the Harrison Butker controversy can teach us. Regardless of what you think of what was said or not in that viral commencement speech, let’s think about the transferrable lesson.

Your message may go beyond your intended audience. Your products may be picked up by unintended users. Your finely crafted statements which resonate well with a particular group may be picked apart by others. The product that solves a particular need in fantastic way may be criticized by people who use it  off label. you Are you ready for that?

How will you craft your message and design products to ensure they reach your intended audience? And if need be, how will you handle the criticism that comes from those outside?
