Bad reviews are good

Word on the street is that MKBHD destroys companies with his bad reviews. Somehow I doubt that. (He does, too) But, the idea that that a creator shouldn’t upload negative reviews? That is something we should think through.

Let’s get this out of the way. Negative reviews are not bad; they are information. Regardless from how big the source is and how many views it gets, you actually shouldn’t hide from negative reviews. I know, I know. It doesn’t feel good to receive harsh criticism. And you definitely want to believe the best about yourself and your product. However, your goal is to create and sell products to other people. To do that, you need to know what other people are thinking, the good and the bad.

Now maybe you don’t care. Maybe you are more concerned about looking good than being good. Then by all means, continue down your path of ignorance. But the rest of you, please, welcome and learn from criticism. Use the negative reviews you receive as a bit of market research to help you continue to improve and evolve your offerings. The reviews are only bad if you don’t learn from them.

Here is Marques’s take on bad reviews.
