A little nostalgia

As a young child, I was burdened with the responsibility of taking care of a needy virtual pet, my Tamagotchi. It got to the point that I was taking it to school with me to make sure I took care of it on a regular cadence. I distinctly remember the sound of the alarm going off in my bookbag, and I was unable to get to it. And now, a whole new generation of children is also burdened with the same responsibility. Nostalgia is bringing Tamagotchi back.

I was surprised to see that the little pet never really left. The brand still makes the original key chain version, but now there’s apps and toy sets and all kinds of ways to engage your imagination. With the way that people desire the good old days, I wonder will this get back to peak popularity again. I kind of like the idea of getting a Tamagotchi that is connected to a water reminder. As I take care of myself, I take care of the pet. But maybe that is to come.

But what about you? What nostalgic toys are you thinking of?

What was your first ever videogame?
