What this plate of nachos is telling me

I’m eating a plate of microwave nachos. Why? Not because they are particularly good, but because I don’t have the energy or desire to cook a real meal. Nor do I really want to get started on writing this post. But here I am, getting it done.

If I’m honest, this feeling happens way too often. This sense of not wanting to do anything is here, again and again. And while I’m pushing through to maintain my consistency on this site, I think it means that something has to change.

Maybe it’s time to quit my job to take care of my health. But that’s scary and totally foolish in this economy. Who knows when I would get another one?

Or maybe I could go into business for myself, consulting and freelance writing to make ends meet. But is that a guarantee?

As I consider letting my job go, I wish there were a way I could turn this work into a source of income. But not the soul-sucking, staying up all night work. Just the life-sustaining, life-giving, joy-filled parts. The extensive research on brands and the write-ups that follow. The reviews of products and destinations. The hot takes and reflections. Is there a way to monetize your hobby that doesn’t end with you hating it?

I think I would enjoy writing as a career. But would I still enjoy it as a hobby in the end?
