I have covered multiple times how it is important to drink water if you want more youthful, hydrated skin. You want to hydrate your cells from the inside and not just rely on topical measures. But let’s get real. I don’t care how good your skin looks if your body is falling apart internally. I am here to fearmonger you into drinking more water.
Did you know that dehydration can actually lead to high blood pressure? You already have enough stress in your life trying to tip you into hypertension. Do you really need to help it along and negatively impact your entire vascular system because you don’t like the way water tastes? Do you want to end up with a stroke later down the line because you couldn’t be bothered to find bathrooms while you’re out?
Perhaps you haven’t considered how your constant dehydration is damaging your kidneys. Is the inconvenience of drink water worth the inconvenience of perhaps trips to dialysis clinic? Or having to wait for a transplant candidate?
Have you thought about how dehydration throws off your electrolyte balance leading to seizures? Or your immune function goes down? Or all the things that water supports your body in doing, which it can’t do when you’re dehydrated. Dry skin is the least of your worries.

I’m writing this as someone who needs a wake-up call myself. A month ago, I wrote about how I’m changing and will finally drink the recommended 64 ounces of water everyday for a month. I have not done that. I might also be less hydrated than I was then. I think the main reason is that I made it a thing that would be nice to do and not necessary for my survival. I need to remember that this is more than just trying to eliminate acne and those dry patches. This is about living a fuller life that supports me with the health to pursue this skincare hobby. So let’s get serious.
I’m going to go back to my list of all the things I need to do to support myself in drinking more water. I will fill that out for myself, determine exactly what I need to do, and eliminate what has been holding me back. But I will start with why.
I will start drinking more water, because I want to live a fuller, healthier life.
