The room was filled with women-founded, women-focused products. I noticed a moisturizer, specific for menopausal women: Versalie Hydrating Facial Moisturizer. As a skincare enthusiast and a skeptic, I was doubly intrigued. Was it really worth it, or was it just marketing to capture a key consumer group? I am not in that consumer group, but I did give it a try. Only now that I finally am getting around to this review, I found that the product is no longer offered. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t still a need. Here are the resources I found that might be helpful to you if you’re navigating your skin care journey during menopause.
While Versalie no longer offers products, they remain a platform for women to learn more about menopause, how to deal with its symptoms, and where to find a provider. For example, I learned about the skin changes that come as a result of menopause. I’ve heard a lot about your skin changing as you age, but I hadn’t thought how hormones were a part of that shift.
Though you don’t necessarily need a menopause specific skincare line, there are two that you can look into. Stripes Beauty was created by actress Namoi Watts to provide the products she wished she had on her on journey. Product prices range from $40 to $85, though the multi-product kits cost more. Offerings include options face, body, hair, and intimate skin.
Korres is not a menopause first brand, but they have a White Pine Meno-Reverse line specific for mature skin. In addition to dryness, the four products target signs of aging. Think wrinkles and age spots. Prices range from $58 to $74. Options skew towards moisturizers, but they do have and eye and lip cream and a concentrate.
With a new phase in life may come the need to get new skincare products. As you pay attention to how your skin changes, get the products to address those needs. You don’t necessarily need to switch to a menopause focused line, just because you’ve reached that phase in your life. Find what works for you.
