I had this journey of trying to find the perfect moisturizer. Everything was a disappointment. But when even the expensive moisturizer that I once raved about failed me, I had to start looking elsewhere. I knew the answer wasn’t what I was putting on my skin. It was all about what was coming from within.
I went on a journey last year, trying to drink 64 ounces of water every single day. I did it for 30 days straight, but then I got to the end of my checkoff calendar and fell off the habit.
I used to eat more nutritional food, but a hectic schedule led me to drive-thrus more times than I am comfortable admitting.
I used to exercise, I used to get 8 hours of sleep, I used to take care of myself. But there was no longer enough time. But I did keep making time for my skincare routine. Shouldn’t that be enough?
No, darling. It shouldn’t be and won’t be any time soon.
The commitment I showed to my skincare routine needs to be reflected in my overall health commitments if I want to see real results. I’m asking a lot of my products, and not nearly enough of myself. That is a shortcoming that I am ready to admit now.
Keeping up your nutritional diet and supplement routine is skincare.
Getting to the gym or doing home workouts is skincare.
Going to sleep at a reasonable hour for when you need to wake up is skincare.
And you already know, drinking your water is skincare.
What I want for you, and myself, is an understanding that we are whole beings. Our skin is just one organ in our overall body system. You can’t neglect all of the other interconnected systems and expect this one to do well.
Take care of yourself, and that will take care of your skin.
