The gesture

I came home to a box, an unexpected package. Fragile, it read.

 “Dearest member…”

It was a box of chocolates from a beauty brand I shop with, a gesture of appreciation for the season.

I could have easily ordered my own box of chocolates. I certainly could have diverted what I spent on their products to buy truffles. And yet, it was special. I felt special and appreciated. I was giddy with joy.

As I go on my own journey to understand clienteling and customer retention, I am aware that this is just marketing to further entrench me into loyalty with the brand. But I don’t care, they got me.

A small gesture at the right time can do wonders. It can be a special moment to strengthen the relationship that your customers have with you. It can shift how they see you and your brand.

What small moments of joy can you create for your customers.
