These past few days I’ve been resistant to getting started on work. I’ve been struggling to get out of bed. I thought maybe that meant my discipline muscles needed to get activated. I sat there at my work computer, miserable but trying to push through. He said to me, “You know this is what sick days are for?”
Instead of trying to force my body to cooperate, I’m admitting that I’m sick and taking a sick day. I canceled my meetings for the day. I put on my out of office, and now I’m lazing about on the couch getting in as many fluids as I can tolerate.
So, I’ll ask you. Are you trying to push harder when maybe you shouldn’t be pushing at all? Is it time for you to finally rest to come back stronger instead of putting in the marginal effort you’re putting in now?
Taking a day off doesn’t mean you’re quitting the journey. It’s really your commitment to sticking with it for the long haul and to the end.
Take care of yourself out there.
