Uber, did anyone want this?

A push notification came through. Check out your Uber Wrapped.

There is no situation in which I want to relieve all the unnecessary takeout I ordered or ridiculously expensive (and precarious) rides I’ve taken throughout the year. I don’t want a summary of my bad decisions. This trend has now officially gone too far.

Since Spotify Wrapped took off in popularity other brands have been trying to do their own version. They were inspired by those end-of-year analyses of our music tastes. More so, they were likely wanting to have their brand shared in the group chat and posted to social media.

It’s fun to compare and contrast what the algorithm thinks of everyone in the friend group. However, it’s less fun to have constant reminders that big companies are watching you and tracking your every move (literally in the case of Uber). And while the report is shareable, there are some things we just don’t what the world to know. Not every trend is suitable for every brand.

I have not as yet checked my results. Maybe I’ll change my mind once I do. But what are your thoughts? Are you a fan of the Uber take on Spotify Wrapped?
