“So I asked ChatGPT…” It’s a phrase that I’m hearing more often. Years ago, when we wanted to know something quickly, we would ask a friend. And then we would ask Google. And now, the shift is to ask ChatGPT. As more and more people enter their questions into that large language model instead of a web search, that means that we need to shift our behaviors, too.
Maybe you in the past placed ads on Google, to send more people to your site based on the specific search terms they were using. Maybe that helped drive traffic your way. But now, that can’t be the only way that you get in front of people on line.
I am not here to pretend that I fully understand how ChatGPT and other AI chatbots work. But I do know that it is on us as marketers and advertisers to get a better understanding to extract the biggest benefit.
Maybe that means adding a blog to your site that you leave open to train these models. Maybe that means finding the trends that people are looking up and how you can jump on. Maybe that just means doing something different.
The world of search is changing. How are you changing your strategy?
