Insights from thinking about the Crowdstrike chaos for too long

You know, this whole Crowdstrike wouldn’t have been such big issue if it wasn’t the biggest cybersecurity firm used and if Microsoft wasn’t the default software. If you think about it, this is a different example of why monopolies aren’t a good idea.

Often we think about overwhelming market share being bad in terms of exploitation. Let’s think about it now in terms of survival.

Just like variety helps a species survive, it can do the same for the market. When crises happen, it leaves the market less vulnerable and more ready to adapt.

This situation has changed how I see the  Saks-Neimans deal. If the luxury sector is concentrated in fewer hands, it leaves designers in a more perilous position. If they combine and then down, they would take the many sellers who depend on them down, too.
