Same factory but not the same thing

“I heard that because Sephora and Dior are both owned by LVMH that means they are made in the same factory. That means that Sephora Collection is basically the same as Dior Beauty products.” Easy on the transitive property. It’s not that simple.

First let me say that just because two brands have the same ownership it doesn’t mean they now have the same manufacturers, designers, or staff. And just because two products are made in the same factory doesn’t mean they are made with the same ingredients.

There is a longer post here about the nature of factories and ownership, but that is not what I have time for today. For now, just be mindful when someone tries to use “made in the same factory” to convince you of quality.
