I was telling the group that I had been thinking about taking a trip. The problem was that I had already taken that expensive trip, gone to that other place, and then went over there just for fun. But this trip was one I wanted to take this trip to surprise a friend. I had the time to do it but I started to think it would maybe be better to save the money instead. That’s when she said:
“If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that money comes back.”
I think it was a way of telling me to stress less about the money and just do it. I can find a way to re-earn that money, but I can never get that moment again. I will never get the same chance to support my friend in that moment.
If you have the funds, but just want to be more prudent with your money, really think about what you’re saving for. When I am lying on my deathbed, I am fairly certain I won’t regret not having saved that $300. However, I will probably regret not being there for the people I loved.
