The places have long been shunned by me. I have never personally looked into staying at an Airbnb for my travels. Something about the idea of having to be an entire housekeeper when I could just stay at a hotel that employs them? That never appealed to me. But maybe, giving this new change, I might change my mind.
Airbnb will be implementing a new policy, preventing hosts from sticking guests with anything more than light cleaning. You can’t ask guests to take out the trash, do full loads of laundry, and the like. And honestly, that seems like a big relief, especially given the insane rules I’ve seen floating around. Those viral social media posts are likely part of the reason for this change.
Honestly, it was a PR nightmare for the brand, and they had to step in. I’m glad they did. Making that one policy change helps them seem more on the side of guests. But will I stay at an Airbnb now?
Personally, there’s more to it than me. For starters, the refund policy and having to navigate both and independent contractor and a major brand seems like a headache. Once they sort that out, maybe I’d look into it.
