You see it. A video showing extravagant dresses, and then the designer comes out. Wearing a simple t-shirt and jeans. After designing all of those fantasy pieces, why are you dressed so plain?
You’re running around back stage, possibly sweating as you to try to handle all the things. The stitching. Making sure the models are in formation to execute your vision. The nerves as you vulnerably put your work out to the world. I don’t think I could do that in a ball gown. They need something to help them feel agile.
It some cases, it’s just how the artist chooses to dress. Plainly, in a uniform, instead of in the extravagant creations. Why spend your time focused on your own outfits when you’ve got so much work to do?
But I know that’s not everyone. I would be curious to dive more into how various designers dress and really doing a deep dive on this. What do you think? Have you seen any of those videos?
