Add selfie to your skincare routine.

Take a picture of your face. Did you just cringe at the thought of that? And I didn’t even tell you to do it without makeup on. (But definitely do it without makeup.) If the thought of having a camera reveal what you really look like scares you, ask yourself why.

You could take the easy route and say, “I have low self-esteem.” That won’t work for me. There is something specifically bothering you. Why don’t you like the way that you look? Is it a problem with your skin? Is it your weight? Or is there specific feedback you’ve been getting from others? Name it, write it down, and then take the picture anyway.

As much as I recommend skincare and beauty products, I want you to do this first before you spend all of your money fixing a problem more products can’t fix. I need you to fall in love with your face, or at the very least feel neutral about it. I need you to accept your features while pursuing better skin health. I need you to appreciate your skin as a protective organ instead of just trying to exfoliate it all off.

So go ahead, take a picture of yourself. Look into your own eyes and admire all that you see. And then take a picture day in and day out until you get comfortable with the way you look. I want your skincare routine to truly be self-care. Get to know and respect your face and your skin so you can care for it instead of just trying to change it.
