We all have our strange obsessions. Mine is trying to figure out at what point I will finally like the smell of this vial of Vanilla 28 by Kayali. It is a fragrance that went viral because of how delicious people thought it smelled. On me it was at best, “meh,” and at it’s worst bitterly pungent. We’ve now gotten to the point in the maturity of the fragrance that it smells “nice.” But as you might imagine, I don’t want to have to wait months or years to like the fragrance I’ve bought. Here are some vanilla based fragrances I liked immediately.

Cheirosa 59 Delicia Hair & Body Refillable Perfume Mist
$39 for 240 mL
Notes:
Top: Velvet plum, sugared violet
Heart: Vanilla orchid, whipped amber
Base: Sandalwood, vetiver
This smells good enough to have people asking, “What scent is that?” I know because I was the person who kept asking that question over and over again before I invested in my own bottle. Bonus: It’s priced low enough that you can smell delicious on a budget.

Vanilla Woods by The 7 Virtues
$94 for 50 mL
Notes
Top: Pear
Heart: Rose
Base: Vanilla, Amber, Caramel
I enjoy this so much. I have this as the rollerball fragrance oil It’s a grounding scent for me that has staying power.

$170 for 100 mL
Top: Bitter almond essence, Angelica roots essence
Heart: Madeleine accord, carrot heart, absolu ambrette
Base: Heart of New Caledonia sandalwood, Madagascar vanilla
Technically speaking, this is not a “vanilla” fragrance, but it just smells so sweet and delicious. Honestly, that’s what I’m often looking for in such scents anyway.
