As part of a detox program, I was given a body gua sha. And then, I stepped on and broke the beautiful stone tool. What a shame it would have been had I not had the Sol de Janeiro Body Firmeza Massage Tool sitting patiently, waiting for me to test it.

As part of the protocol I was on, I was to do a lymphatic massage morning and evening, to support digestion and drainage. The Body Firmeza Massage Tool was certainly up for the challenge. In the evening, it was long strokes in the direction of the nearest lymph node. (I will note that I could feel my eyes starting to droop as I got more and more relaxed and sleepy during this process.) In the morning, it was multiple short strokes to get the blood flowing. The edge of the tool borders on the side closer to sharp than dull. It can feel a bit uncomfortable as it scraps against tender areas, especially those areas where I may have been retaining water and have become more sensitive. But I wouldn’t say it was painful, largely because I controlled my own pressure.

A second benefit is that it was perfect for me at my clumsiest. I could drop it without fear of it breaking. And in misplacing it, I didn’t have to worry if I accidently sat on or stepped on it. I can assure you of this. I have dropped it multiple times. I have set things on top it. I have misplaced it, only to discover it underneath me. It has survived.  The jade tools are beautiful, but they’re fragile.

The suggested use from the brand is to pair this tool with their Body Firmeza Oil to massage your abdomen to reduce bloating. I haven’t done this. I just used the lotions and oils that I already had on hand. But perhaps their formula has a greater effect. I don’t know.

This is a valuable tool to keep in the arsenal. I just need to get into the habit of using it more regularly.  I want to put into regular rotation for a soothing bedtime ritual for better sleep. If I do ever get the body oil, I will let you know if it makes a difference.

P.S. While on the Sol de Janeiro site, I learned they have new Intense versions of the three best selling scents and limited release candles. As we get closer to holiday (and the holiday deals), that might be something to take into consideration.
