Round two at the Langham Hotel in Boston

Three years ago was my first visit to the Langham Hotel in Boston. I was returning to see what it would be like all these years later. And mostly to reset expectations after a disappointing visit to the property in New York. This time around, I booked with American Express, giving me dining credit, guaranteed late checkout, and a room upgrade when available.

When I arrived, I had been upgraded to a king deluxe room. Again, I remarked on just how quiet it was, even though the main areas of the hotel were bustling with activity. Only once do I recall hearing people in the hall way. And I certainly didn’t have my sleep disrupted by any of my neighbors. If I hadn’t stayed up scrolling through videos, I would have gotten so much rest.

The only knock on my room is that I had an interior view, overlooking the bee hives, the pool, and other rooms. Needless to say, I didn’t spend a lot of time staring out the window.

I was curious with the passage of time if anything would be in disarray. The only thing that I noticed was a tiny chip in the bathroom, along with some issues getting the mirror-based fitness classes to work.

But, a major difference in my experience was that I had a welcome treat. I was giddy with excitement when I saw the tray after exploring all day. I felt so special and was grateful for the special touch.

Returning for the second time and after experiencing multiple luxury hotels in the interim, this time was different. It wasn’t me coming in there filled with awe for all of these things I had never seen before. Instead, it was me returning to a familiar and reliable place, somewhere I knew I could depend on to have a great experience.

While there are so many hotels in Boston that I want to try out, I want to come back to the Langham, time and time again. The second time was a charm. Let’s home the third would also be a delight.
