A Wren Says

I made my way down the fragrance testers at the Guerlain boutique in Raffles Boston. I was giddy with excitement, finally able to try the brand in person. A collection with pastel labels caught my eye and then quickly became my favorites, Les Eaux.

Eau de Coton was good. It is a beautiful scent. And had I smelled it in isolation, I would have probably loved it. But unfortunately, it was immediately dethroned by Eau de Lingerie.

I don’t know what lingerie is supposed to smell like, but it is certainly what I wish I smell like. It was subtly fruited and delicate. It smelled fresh and clean, and yet not overly aldehydic like a laundry detergent. It was something that I found myself continuing to smell, over and over again. And each time I enjoyed it more.

“They’re linen sprays,” the attendant told me. She elaborated how nicely the work on fabrics. I instantly questioned whether I should have sprayed it on to my skin. But mostly I questioned if her statement was true at all.

The Les Eaux collection is an ode to textiles. It is a representation of these everyday fabrics through the power of scent. They are definitely meant for human use. (Although Eau de Lingerie has an interesting note stating that it is not for use on mucous membranes, which makes me worried about what they think people would be doing with it.)

I can’t give a good review on the longevity as I only had the chance to wear the fragrances that day with the single sprays I had on at the shop. However, in time I would love to invest in a full-size bottle of Eau de Lingerie and let you know how it behaves.

I can see this becoming an everyday scent, that transitions beautiful from daily errands into an evening dinner. Or maybe I’m biased, because I really liked it and would love to wear it all the time.
