I smell like a luxury hotel candle. That is what I smell as I breathe in the scent of Santal and Vetiver from Salt & Stone. It’s soothing, but also expensive. It’s more than I even knew I wanted from this.

I sprayed this on me before going to an outdoor meet and greet. No one said anything. I wore it to sit in a coffee shop. No notes. Wearing it to work next, but now I actually smell more so like coffee. That’s annoying. It’s annoying that I know how good I smell and it seems that no one around me wants to revel in the scent.

But then, today, I sprayed this one right before heading out and got this interaction:

Are you wearing cologne?

That can go either way, so I pushed for more info for his thoughts:

It smells like what that Creed one wanted to smell like. Like a guide you can trust.

As a background, and perhaps unnecessary shade in this post, we both agreed that Creed Viking smells like very expensive bug spray. In his explanation, Viking would be the guide leading you through the woods after having doused himself in repellent. He wants to look like he can handle the outdoors, but he will leave you to fend for yourself at the first sign of danger. Santal & Vetiver would decline your offer of repellent, yet never need to swat a bug away since he’s so entuned with nature that there is an unspoken understanding between him and the mosquitoes. And should anything happen out there in the woods, he not only has it handled, but he makes you feel calmer and more capable, too.

Personally, this is a fragrance I see myself reaching for, freshly showered and chilling at home or when I want to walk into a room and be the calming force. Or of course, when I just want to smell good, with a slightly woody essence. This is a body mist, which can mean lower longevity. I would say though that I could smell it on my skin 8 hours later, even though it wasn’t projecting much.

I would assume if you are that person who loves Santal 33 from Le Labo, this is could be your easy weekend option to keep your love of sandalwood going. Or if you have always wanted to smell like a relaxing retreat, this is so much your vibe I don’t know why you don’t already own it.
