I read the advice, leaning in to what was being said. And then I leaned back. Wait a minute. This is ChatGPT I’m messaging.

I had been struggling with a work issue and turned to the site as a way to think through it. I typed out a quick scenario to get a quick answer, but then it asked more probing questions. Finally, it ended with advice cutting to the deeper misalignment that was causing the problem. As someone weary of AI, I don’t know if this exchange is tempering or further firing that distrust. But ultimately it was helpful.

AI is becoming an larger part of lives. Companies are seeking to figure out how to use it more effectively to increase productivity, but employees are already using it. They are automating tasks and and writing code, but they’re also using the tools to decode life’s mysteries.
