Why I scrolled

Just a few quick scrolls through YouTube shorts is never just a few for me. It’s the place I turn to when I need to turn away from the mountain of overwhelming tasks. I seem to turn to it a lot. Instead of really enjoying the random video that I won’t even remember in the end, I feel sickened. It bothers me that I spent so much time with the app instead getting straight to work.

But on the other hand, maybe it’s time to figure out why? Why do I feel the need to escape? What is that makes work so, if not unbearable, uncomfortable?

As I write about business and marketing, I often veer into the lane of employee relations. When organizations seek to increase sales, they focus so much on customers that they forget the very people who they need to reach those numbers.

There is always a reason why employees disengage from work. If you want to succeed, you need to learn how to get the best out of the people who work for you. And I’m sorry to break it to you, it is rarely sufficient to say that “they’re just lazy.”
