First impressions of the cleansing oil from Dr. Dennis Gross

I have been using the Dr. Dennis Gross Creamy Cleansing Oil for a few weeks, but I think this is still a first impression. I say that because I hesitate to outright say that I don’t like it. Maybe I still need to get to know it some more.

It is a cleansing oil, but in comparison to the other products I’ve used, I think it is much more like a paste. It’s not very… oily. And perhaps that reason, I felt like it didn’t have much glide on my skin the first time I used it. I found that I had to really increase the amount I used to feel okay with it on dry skin, rather than feeling like I were pulling my face around. They also suggest using it on a dry face with damp fingers. I did that much more often. And it’s fine, I suppose that way, when I am just washing of the day and not much else.

Now the reason I think this is still just a first impression is that I only recently used it to remove a full face of makeup. I don’t think it shined there, but it might have been user error. Maybe I could have used more product. Maybe I could have worked it around my skin longer. But the end result was me left trying to get off the rest of my mascara and very light foundation with multiple cleansings afterwards. I’m not sure what they wanted me to do, but I can try to figure it out.

Finally, I only just realized that they made claims beyond cleansing. However, I don’t think this product improved my skin texture or hydration. Actually, my skin is more textured with the acne that’s popped up. It’s probably not related to the cleanser, but it is something I will continue to monitor. All in all, I don’t know about this cleanser. Maybe it is a good product if it’s what you’re looking for. But I am going to wait and see. I will use it some more higher makeup days and really put it to the test. When I finally empty the product, I will let you know my final thoughts.
