Are luxury hotels worth it?

At this point, I have been reviewing multiple hotels, with an emphasis on getting to know luxury hotels where possible. At the heart of that was wanting to answer the question for myself, “Are luxury hotels really worth the money?”

If you will be out from sun up to late evening and will only be sleeping there, don’t bother

If you don’t care to use hotel facilities like the gym and pool, also not necessary.

If you want to travel on the tightest budget possible, don’t even try to justify the cost

If you never have to ask for assistance from staff and would like to be left alone, not necessary

If you absolutely hate Nespresso (which you are likely to find in your luxury hotel room), pass

If you would rather explore the city than the hotel property, than it is probably not for you

At the end of the day, even luxury hotel rooms are not soundproof. You will still here the street noise, people in the hallway, and possibly the people in the room next door. You will still be away from the comfort and structure of your own home. Despite how soft the bed is, that alone may make it difficult for you to sleep. And just like some luxury products, some luxury hotel properties are overpriced without bringing the quality you would expect.

Personally, I’ve had great experiences at luxury hotel properties. But you have to consider whether or not it’s worth it to you based on what you value. If what they have to offer isn’t important to you, it will never be worth it.

But, if you do want these things, stick around as I try to discover more properties.
