The lipstick from Prada is changing my mind about mattes

This is not what I expected to experience when I tried the Prada Monochrome Soft Matte lipstick. Me and my dry lips expected instant regret. We expected the dry areas we didn’t even notice to be instantly highlighted. We expected to look chalky, parched even. But not this.

The formula glides on my lips. Yes, I am more hydrated than my usual levels, but even that doesn’t explain this. My lips are still not optimally smooth. This just doesn’t cling in a way that I can’t essentially smooth to fix. It’s a comfortable wear, that’s not drying my lips out. And as a plus because I definitely have the wrong shade, it is a soft diffused color. Allegedly it is buildable. I just don’t have the patience to try.

This is honestly changing my mind about matte lipsticks. It might be an option for someone like me who was drawn to the hydrating nature of more glossy lipsticks but doesn’t want to look shiny. It’s a nice middle ground.

I haven’t tried the Hyper Matte, which seems to have the same formula and feel but with a more pigmented base. But for now, I’d recommend the Soft Matte for those looking for a hydrating, sheer lipstick in luxury packaging.
