There are days where I wish I could just look an object I desire and immediately know where it’s from and where I can buy it. That power could have come in handy as I watched the many fashion montages in The Devil Wears Prada 2. There is a scene in Milan where Andy Sachs, played by Anne Hathway, is on screen in a fully leopard print ensemble, accented with a green shirt underneath. Seeing it instantly shift my thoughts on animal print. It was never that I didn’t like the print. It was just how it was tailored. And with that, I went on a hunt, powered only by my research skills to figure out what she was wearing. I am assuming she was wearing Dolce & Gabanna. I have pulled the following as the possible pieces of her ensemble.

As a quick note, I am starting to doubt my memory. She could be just a button down shirt. I can’t wait until the movie clips started getting posted so i can figure this out.

And as for the green blouse, I’m sure I could find one of those much more easily.
Unsurprisingly, I do not have Dolce & Gabanna wardrobe money. So I went to find options that are more suitable to a middle class budget making it work in this economy. Unfortunately, I didn’t find any I liked. While there was a full suit from Fashion Nova, it was covered in sequins and from Fashion Nova. Other brands had leopard print, but the colors were less true to this inspiration and the animal. Or the drape of the garment was not at all something I’d wear. And as for the green blouse, I’m sure I could find one of those much more easily.
As much as I want to find the exact outfit she wore, I think I am more excited about the inspiration. I am simple more inspired to play with fashion and make more combinations that I wouldn’t have considered before. But if someone were to loan me that suit in my size, I would be very much grateful.
But what about you, has there been any item of clothing you saw in a movie that you wished was in your wardrobe?
