Maed was a brand new brand to Sephora, which meant that of course I had to try it. I bought and have been using the Reveal Lip Polish for some time now. Here are my thoughts.

$26 for 8 mL
It’s basically a glorified sugar scrub in a tube. It is more convenient and shelf stable than making it myself, and it is a gentle exfoliant. That’s two pluses.
For some reason, my instinct on using it was to squeeze it directly onto my lips and work my lips over each other to work the product around. That didn’t give me great results. My lips are softer but they are not completely smooth. Then, I realized that the website’s instructions suggest using your fingers to work the product around for 60 seconds. While that seems like it would work better I didn’t get better results. This is what I really think happened.
I don’t actually need a lip exfoliant. Or at least, not yet.
I know what you’re thinking, “Then why did you buy it? And why are you reviewing it?” I hear you. Being perfectly honest, I thought I did need it, but what I actually need is hydration.
My lips are dry. They look dry, which made me think I just needed to slough off those dead cells. Instead, I should be focused on hydration. Maybe, I should drink the recommended amount of water daily, use a more hydrating balm, and then only then focus on exfoliation.
Maybe I should have started with the brand’s Revive Balm, and then I could start to use the polish once or twice a week for maintenance. This just isn’t the holy grail product that is going to disappear all the issues from my bad habits. But you have none of those bad habits, so this is probably for you.
If you are in need a of a little gentle exfoliation of your lips and you want a less messy way to do a sugar scrub, try Maed’s Reveal Lip Polish.
