While I was staying at the Hotel Figueroa, I decided to follow my standard rating procedure. I ordered a room service burger:

It was named the Fig Burger. It had fig jam that I wished was more present. I’m also a well done burger person, and they didn’t get that right. It came with fries, but they were not good. I was forcing myself to eat them, which an odd position to be in with fries. I’ll put this meal in the middling category of the room service burgers I’ve experience. I’ve had worse and definitely far better.

In the morning, I went down to Café Fig for breakfast. I ordered pancakes. I was disappointed. They tasted bitter, as if the ration of baking soda was off. I told the wait staff.

For their part, they comped my meal and insisted on offering me some baked goods to go. I will say that I did like my rose lavender latte very much.

Finally, I ordered room service of two Pressed Juicery juices and a croissant. The juices were pre-bottled, so they don’t factor in. However, the croissant was also middling.
Later, with colleagues in town, we’d head to Bar Magnolia to continue our conversation. I ordered the seasonal mocktail and allowed the bartender to work his magic. What I got was more than just glorified fruit juice. It was earthy and spicy and made me feel like a grown-up, instead of a child hanging out with the adults. My hats off to the bartender.

If I were to dine at the Hotel Figueroa again, I would opt first and foremost for a drink. Although, I imagine with a few tweaks I would have a better experience with my food. None of the issues were unfixable, just cooking mistakes.
While I didn’t have the best dining experience taste-wise across the hotel dining options, I would highly recommend the Bar Magnolia. And be sure to spend some time in the jasmine scented walkway while you’re there.
Perhaps, I was just ordering the wrong food. I’m willing to admit that I’m wrong. But if I were to dine at the Hotel Figueroa again, I would just head strait for the bar.
