I am set to travel in just a short while. With the news as it is here in the States. I’m concerned. How soon do I need to get to the airport to make sure I make my flight? Am I going to be safe on the tarmac? Will I have an uncomfortable confrontation with an ICE agent? Let alone any fears I may have had about getting in the air before. I can zoom out to seem the issues coming from the government shutdown from the marketing and PR lens, but now I am sitting with it from the consumer side. This is a stressful time to travel.
I don’t want that to be lost.
In all of this, in this rush to improve PR and to market to consumers, there are at the end of the day consumers who are real people. People who may be scared. People who may be turned off from air travel because of real frustrations. This isn’t about loss of sales. This isn’t about how stock prices may drop. This is about people. How do we take care of our people?
As this government controversy continues to loom, and as we think about all things in marketing, we have to keep that in mind. We are here for people. Not customers, but people. How are the decisions that you make in your business keeping that front of mind?
