It’s National Fragrance Week. What better time to think about getting a new fragrance. I thoroughly recommend you go in store to try out scents before making a purchase. Before you do so, here is the biggest tip you need to help you find the right fragrance for you.
Give yourself time.

I must admit, I am guilty of trying smell everything under the sun all in a day. I speed run as many fragrances as I can in the little time I’ve given myself to be in the store. However, you should really take longer for multiple reasons. The first being that you need to give your nose a break.
As you go through sniffing the 15 scents you layered on your arm, you’re overwhelming your nose. Your perception of fragrances is going to be altered based on the other scents you’ve been trying. Now the air is also holding all the scents you just sprayed. And while there are the coffee beans they leave out, that is also a scent. It makes you feel better to keep going, but it’s really restarting your whole system. Instead, you should spray a few, then leave. Leave the environment of the store to see how you feel. Check to see if you notice anything different. Take some time to re-smell your arm. Oh, that’s reason number two. You have to take time to keep smelling yourself.
That perfume you think you like/dislike now will continue to develop on your skin. That could change how you feel about it in the end. If you think you like a fragrance, spray it on your skin. And step out of the store wait a bit and smell it. Then wait some more time, to smell again. Keep trying this for a few hours. This will tell you about how it will develop on you and how long it will last on your skin. Those are two key features that will let you know whether it’s a good buy. And you can’t figure that out in a quick spritz in store.
So, this week, try to smell as many new fragrances as possible. But as you do, take your time and wait and see what develops.
