Like virtual dust

If it were possible for dust to collect on old emails, I would start sneezing any time I open my account. There is a message sitting in my drafts folder that I’ve been meaning to send but haven’t. Not without cause, of course. It is because I’m afraid of the possible rejection or unwanted outcomes that would come as soon as it lands in their inbox. What if (add any possible horrific outcome here)? And then, one day, I decided to finally hit send.

Not because I no longer feared it being a mistake, but because of something bigger. I promised I would try.

I made a commitment to others that I would finally do that thing that’s been scaring me because I want to move towards bigger goals even more. And in a scary turn of events, they responded, “When can we meet?”

There is something you’ve been putting off. Whether it’s big or small, you continue to have that voice in the back of your mind telling you to do it, almost as loudly as the one who says, “No, don’t.” But please, as a random person on the internet, promise me that you won’t give up on your dream before you even start to pursue it. Promise me you’ll take that small step even as your knees quake with fear. Please promise me you’ll try.

What have you been putting off? What will it take for you to finally take that step?
