When I think of luxury, I think of those storied brands and retailers. There is something about the length of time they’ve been around that adds to the prestige. Often times, older is seen as better. Were you established before a world war? Perfect! Before the French Revolution? Even better! But does older really mean better? Is an older brand really more luxurious?
Yes, the history of a brand definitely adds to the luxury status, but it has to be about more than just length of time. It is more about the story of your brand. For young designers who want to get into the luxury world, that means you shouldn’t be disheartened. You, too, can be a part of the luxury world. You just have to figure out what it is that you add.
What is your brand’s story? What makes your products special? Why should a customer spend their money, and a lot of it at that, with you? Figuring that out is key.
Every brand has story. What story do you want to tell?
