I have fully accepted that I am a last minute traveler. It is something that I kinda want to change in pursuit of becoming a more organized person overall, but I am not fully committed to changing any time soon. I will keep this habit up, at least until the end of the year, but there are some things that can make my life a bit easier. I can make sure that my travel documents are secured in an easy to find location. I can keep a toiletry bag packed and ready to go. I can print a master checklist to make sure I run through all the items I might have forgotten. All of that will be useful, but there is one underrated thing I can do.
Only keep clothes in my wardrobe that fit well and make me feel great.

Think about it. You’re rushing to get your bag packed. You’re trying to rush and put together possible outfits at the eleventh hour. You pick up a sweater that looks like a good idea. And then you realize that it doesn’t fit that great anymore. Or that pair of pants have a hole in them. Or that collared shirt sits weird on you, so you’re constantly pulling at it. And now instead of an outfit neatly folded in a bag, you have a bunch of regrets while you try and navigate other outfit choices. Taking the time to do a closet clearout and revamping your wardrobe to be the best fit for you will help you come up with outfit combos faster as you prep for your trip.
When you have the time, sit and consider the clothes that you have. Do they really work for you? Do they fit your needs? Do they help you feel your best? And would they help you have your best trip possible?
This is where I’m at now as I reflect my packing for my recent trips. I’m personally going to take the time to revamp my closet to make packing even easier.
