“Wait, why didn’t you bring that up?” She wanted to know why I wasn’t celebrating the victory. The truth was that what she saw as a success never registered to me. I was too busy picking apart all the areas for improvement. And truthfully, if she had somehow found out and tried to celebrate it, I would have done my very best to minimize it. Maybe I am just a negative person, or maybe I still have a lot of growing left to do.
Part of “enjoying the journey” is taking the little detours to celebrate your successes. I’m not there yet; I don’t know how to celebrate. I don’t know how to find the small wins. That is something that I’m going to have to change.
So here is the small win. I got to writing this post instead of just quitting and breaking my streak.
Now, that I write it out is actually feels good. I might have to keep it up and give myself more symbolic pats on the back to keep myself going towards my goals.
