Martin Margiela Replica (fragrances) for a dream

As I was browsing the Norstrom page for new releases, I gasped and immedieatly clicked. There were new fragrances by Martin Margiela Replica. I must admit, the thing the most triggered my interest was a new bottle design. The two new scents, Soul of a Forest and Dancing in the Moonlight featured a departure from the typical clear bottles of the rest of the lineup. These are housed in darkened bottles, alluding to the quiet evening dreamlike experiences they evoke.

Soul of a Forest is a nighttime meditation amongst the trees. With notes of cedar, moss, and patchouli, it’s a quiet, subtle woody scent. To my nose it was subtle and close to imperceptible on my skin.

  • Soul of the Forest
    • Top: Pimento berries, blackcurrant buds, moss accord
    • Middle: Labdanum, maple sap accord, balsam fir
    • Base: Patchouli, Atlas cedarwood

But  Dancing on the Moon  was my favorite. Keeping to its name, it danced. The floral notes had an almost powdery that I loved and continued to love as the day wore on.

My Nordstrom didn’t have the final scent of the trio, Flying, a fresh citrus fragrance meant to evoke the dreamlike experience of floating among the clouds. But from the notes, it seems like it leans more floral than smelling like a fresh squeezed orange. I would like to smell it for myself soon.

  • Flying
    • Top: Bergamot essence, petit grain essence, orange blossom
    • Middle: Almond flower, bigarade, Ylang extra essence, neroli essence
    • Base: White musk, moss, aerial accord

I highly recommend you get to a store that carries these near you and smell them for yourself. Meanwhile, I will be debating whether or not I am ready to invest in a full bottle of Dancing on the Moon.
