Loss prevention and you

Walgreens reported that their anti-theft measures lost them $245 million in sales. Wow. I am not going to dive too much in to the specifics, but essentially the measures made it harder to take things off of the shelves. And that then frustrated real shoppers who would pay money, so they didn’t buy as much as they used to. Or they switched to a competitor who more accessible products. The thing that most resonated with me the most here is that by trying so hard not to lose, they kept themselves from winning.

This of course connects with how brands choose to reduce losses due to shoplifting, and I will touch on that on a later date. But today, I wanna reflect on how it also connects to the personal level. What are you fighting to hold on to so hard that it keeps you from gaining even more? How is your refusal to let go keeping you from receiving? Are you so afraid of losing, of failing, that you are preventing your own success? What do you need to lose to win?
