Perhaps I’m jaded, but there is something about slang being used in ads that makes me cringe. The “slay” and “it’s giving” from corporate content just makes me recoil. It reeks of, “Hello fellow teenagers.” Now, I’m not saying that there is never a time to use current slang. What I am saying is that it should feel genuine and connected to the groups you are trying to reach. There is big difference between an influencer doing sponsored posts and a voiceover on a detergent ad. Also a big difference between a word slipped in here and there and there being so many phrases used that I assume you are trying to fill out a bingo card.

This is a rant, to be sure, but my point is that there is an art to connecting authentically with your audience. And that art requires you to dig deeper than just trying to talk however you think kids are talking now. Chill on the slang. Instead, work on being authentic to your brand and getting to know more about the values of the people you seek to attract. Connect on values, not just words.
