I was supposed to be working on another post about my experience in Copenhagen, but I got distracted by math. I have been sitting here trying to figure out exactly how much I would need to spend on flights to reach the next loyalty status level with an airline. I am so close to reaching status. Maybe I should just fly away for the weekend. Or maybe it’s not really worth it. But maybe I should just try anyway, just for curiosity’s sake. And there it is. The moment they caught me.
I know in my brain that the loyalty programs are just a way to get more money out on consumers. If you get them to be loyal to you and offer more perks, they will likely spend money. I know it is not out of a desire to truly support me and make sure I have the best experience possible. I know it is just a marketing ploy and yet they get me every time.
