This lighter version Love Don’t Be Shy was what I needed

I remember when I first tried Love Don’t Be Shy, it was off putting. It was so fragrant that it was overpowering, and I was happy when it finally dried down and started to dissipate. It seems the house of Kilian created this eau fraiche version just for me.

Love Don’t Be Shy Eau Fraiche is a lighter take on the original. It has the same marshmallow, neroli vibe but in a softer way that doesn’t give me the regretful sense “Oh no, was that too much?” when I spray it.  Whereas the original demanded its lover, the eau fraiche version beckons you gently and sweetly.

Love Don’t Be Shy Eau Fraiche

$275 for 50 mL

The listed notes are neroli essence, petit grain, rose absolu, orange blossom, white musc and marshmallow.

(For reference, these are the listed notes of the original concentration: Neroli, orange blossom, marshmallow, honeysuckle, rose, amber)

Because it is lighter, I do feel it has less longevity and projection than the original. No one around me commented on the fragrance, and I forgot I was wearing it throughout the day. But this is a fragrance I’d choose because I don’t want it to be too aggressive or noticeable, just sweetly there in the background And because it is lighter, I wouldn’t be as shy about reapplying throughout the day, say in the restroom or private office.

As I put together an image with this fragrance, the color would be very light coral pink. It is undeniably feminine, kind, sweet, and innocent. More than the best places to wear this, I think of this best for when you feel like you’d like to be more coy than direct. Personally though, I have worn this out to complete my look to attend a mixer sitting outside on a rooftop on a summer evening, to a regular day of work, now just sitting typing this post. If you love it, don’t be shy to wear it wherever and whenever you’d like.

I am growing to love and incorporate the marshmallow sweetness of Love Don’t Be Shy Eau Fraiche into my rotation. If you enjoy sweet floral fragrances or are looking for a lighter alternative to the original, give this one a try.
