I tried Dior’s Le Nectar. Here are my thoughts

I had high hopes for Dior’s Prestige Le Nectar Premier. I mean, if you call something nectar, I am imagining it would something heavenly. Maybe also sticky, juicy, plumping, godly. I chose not to look up the intended benefits, so I didn’t know what to expect exactly, but I was expecting a lot.

Dior Prestige Le Nectar Premier
$800 for 1 oz (yes, you did read that correctly)

The product is a yellow (golden) liquid, not too thick or thin. I chose to apply it almost nightly over the course of three weeks.  There were a couple of nights where I washed my face, applied this, skipped moisturizer, then woke up with not a dry patch in sight. However, as my hydration levels tanked (i.e. I rarely drink water), I found it didn’t work as well. It was not enough to give my skin the hydration it needed. (But clearly, I wasn’t doing my part either.) From what I experienced, this is not a standalone moisturizing product. It paired nicely with other products. Of course, I liked it best with its sister product, the Dior Le Prestige serum, but it also worked well the Tatcha Dewy Cream.

So it wasn’t hydrating. But, what results did I see? Well for starters, I was glad to notice no irritation. Personally, I have gotten used to new products giving me a stinging sensation in the more sensitive areas of my face. Over time I did notice changes in my skins texture. It was not as rough. I could tell it was becoming more even.

After having completed my trial, I finally looked up the intended benefits: plumpness, smoothness, radiance. It is targeted for aging skin, ideally to improve wrinkles, texture, and skin tone over time. That is what it gave me. I can’t fault it for not being hydrating, because it never claimed it would be.

Now the big question: Would I recommend this? That is tough. I won’t lie to you, this product is expensive, so I’m hesitating. But I don’t think “it’s expensive” is reason enough to say a product isn’t worth it.  I think this product is good for a very particular person. Not only are you looking to improve your skin’s texture and get a more even complexion, butyou have decided to spare no expense to do so. This is luxury skincare. If you would like to spend this kind of money, I believe you will get a product that works as it says it will. (However, maybe see if you can get a sample first to test out how you feel about it first.)
