Okay, after spending what seemed like an hour trying to write an email that should have only taken 15 minutes to compose, I finally decided to cave and enter the future. Today, I tried out an AI email generator.
The email I had been dreading: how to reengage with a client that had been let go. I asked the free service to write an email for me based on that prompt and waited. The text was a bit too formal for what I needed, but it did the job. It broke me out of my writer’s block.
It pains me to say that it was helpful. This is coming from someone who is Team Destroy the Robots Now Before They Gain the Strength and Intelligence To Take Over. While I massively edited the text it provided, the wording gave me a starting point and ideas where I had none.
You can use any of the multiple services out there, so I won’t promote any particular one. You can also test out services that are more general and not targeted towards emails, if you are looking for help with other writing tasks. The thing about writer’s block is the oppression of the blank screen (or page) staring back at you. Using an AI service provides a great start for you to let your own ideas flow.
