Take a deep breath. The Black Friday sales have already begun.

You are already getting the emails and seeing the commercials. All of the stores have already started their Black Friday sales. Breathe deeply. Even though it all seems enticing, remember you don’t have to buy anything, just because it’s on sale. If you have been trying to save money to reach your goals, you can pass on this. Yes, there are some amazing deals. Yes, there are great gifts with purchase. And yes, some of the items will sell out. That’s fine, you can still choose to refrain from buying anything.

And can you really be sure that this is the right time to buy? It might not be. Will there really be no other sales after this? Of course, there will be. It is okay to sit these sales out. Take a pause before you fill your cart if you are planning to stock up on products for yourself, especially if you don’t need those things now.

Remember, the goal of these marketing pushes is to encourage you spend your money so they can reach their financial goals for the year. What about yours? Where is the push to make sure that your bank account stays in the black?

But if you are already deadset on spending money, have your list set, or are stocking up on gifts for others, have at it.
