Les Mondes de Diptyque- their first refillable candle line

Earlier this year, Diptyque released a line of 5 refillable candles, Les Mondes de Diptyque. Each of the scents, housed in lidded glass vessels, hearken to a different spot around with world.

Temple de Mousse (Moss Temple)- A blend of tree moss, matcha, and cedar send you to a meditative retreat in the zen gardens of Kyoto, Japan.

Nymphée Merveilles (Nymphaeum of wonders)- Orange blossom, jasmine, and iris send you to 16th century Milan, Italy, walking through citrus trees in the royal garden of the Villa Visconti Borromeo.

La Vallée du Temps (Valley of Time)- Mate, jasmine, and white tea transport you to traditional tea ceremony in Jingdezhen, China.

La Fôret Rêve (Forest Dreams)- Ylang ylang, jasmine, and vanilla call to mind a fantastical sculpture garden in the rainforests of northern Mexico. Take a fragrant journey among the dense vegetation in the Sierra Gorda mountains and take in the surrealistic beauty of the art.

Terre Blondes (Golden Lands)- Red cedar, wheat bran, and burnt earth take you back in time among the crops grown on the Mesa Verde in Colorado, USA.

The prices in the collection range from $123 for the refill candle, $285 for candle and vessel, and $415 for a full set including a golden snuffer and wick trimmer.

Personally, I’m thinking more and more about this collection, potentially will test it out myself. Of course, I wonder about the scents and how well these candles burn. I am more so interested in being able/encouraged to reuse my candle container instead of having to throw it out. The vessels from luxury candle makers are so beautiful, it would be great if other brands could move to provide a way to reuse them like this (instead just encouraging me to use it as a holder for other things). Hopefully providing a refill option becomes more of a trend throughout the industry.
