If you didn’t already know about this product, I’m not sure how. TikTok has forced it down your throat, even if you’re not on the platform. People love so much that they are constantly on the hunt for dupes of it. “It just smells so good.” Fine, I will give you that, but it’s a moisturizer. Does it moisturize? Hi, you’re welcome. I’m here to answer that question for you.

Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream
$22 for 75 mL
No. Short and sweet, there’s your answer. But I’ll give you more of an explanation.
Now, they’re not wrong; it does smell amazing. The problem is that it’s the only redeeming quality for me. Maybe everyone else who tries has optimal moisture levels in their skin just naturally. Maybe everyone else could get by just spritzing themselves with water and somehow stay moisturized all the day long. I, however, am afflicted with a dry skin type. This cream doesn’t work that well for me.
The consistency is so thin that I don’t even know if ever intended to moisturize me. And if my skin is a little damp, then the results are even worse. And one of the claims to fame is to help reduce cellulite. I don’t even know if really helps with that because I didn’t consistently use this because I hated constantly having dry legs even though I literally had moisturized them. I don’t know. Maybe your skin is supposed to absorb all of the product and then that is what plumps your skin.
Do I recommend this product? Of course not, especially if you have dry skin. Unless of course all you care about is the fragrance. If you are already well moisturized and just want to add a layer of the creamy pistachio scent, go right ahead. But then again, you could just buy the body spray.
