A sigh of validation

Close to three weeks ago, I made a post about my issues with gender neutral fashion. I wanted to make the post because it was something that I had been thinking about for a while. However, I was anxious about doing so. This blog is not a major publication, but I was still worried that I might be backlash because of my take. My fear was about others might take it. Maybe they would say this wasn’t a take I should have. Today, I see that Vogue Business has posted a piece coming to the same conclusion: Gender neutral fashion has a fit problem. They just had access to designers and industry folk to interview.

One of the reasons I’m writing this now is because I feel validated. That the reflections I have been developing through this blog are valid. I’m developing as a writer and observer of the industry. The other reason is to have you think about what this means for you.

Maybe you are also considering quieting your own voice. Maybe you hold back from speaking up in meetings or other spaces in your life. Well, ask yourself “Why?” Isn’t it time you let yourself be heard?

Let yourself be heard
