Traffic gives me a lot of time to think. Mostly about how horrible everyone else is as a driver. As I approached the interchange, traffic slowed. Everything was backed up as people tried to switch lanes. Often times, they hold up multiple lanes as they tried to switch from the left most lane over 4 lanes to get on the other highway. I got frustrated. “Don’t you look at your maps ahead of time? How did you not know that that was the lane you needed to be in?” And then I had to sit there in traffic with the weight of the comparison with my own life.
Things look a mess. I look like I am switching lanes last minute because I didn’t consult my plan. Heck, I didn’t have a plan. I even wrestle with the idea of writing a to-do list. I know that I will move through life better if I make a plan. Even if I get rerouted, even if hazards pop up that I didn’t expect, that’s no excuse not to really think about where it is I want to go and how I want to get there.
