I went to bed racking my brain trying to figure out why it was that I was so unproductive during the day. Why couldn’t I fill all the tasks on my habit tracker? I was so good last year? Why is this year such a struggle. And then the words popped into my head: “Because you made it optional.” Hmmm. Touché.
I have to admit to myself, even though I have the time to get things done, I put them off until the next day. I don’t have to do it today, I can do it tomorrow. At least that is what I had been saying to myself. Essentially, these things don’t have to be done. In reality, if I want to reach my goals, I have to do the work. I have to at some point sit down and tackle the tasks that will help me reach them, even if I don’t feel like it in the moment.
I need to go back and think about why these tasks are important to me and why they actually can’t wait. I would love to end this with a great quote, but that is it. I just need to reflect:
- Why did you choose these habits? How will they shape your life?
- Why is important to start now? What benefit is there to doing it today? What detriment will there be if you wait, even another day, to get started?
