Croissants are a treat I love making. Maybe it’s the desire to be a real baker, one who uses just her hands and muscle to knead the dough without equipment. Maybe it is just because there is no substitute for the buttery flakiness when they’re fresh out of the oven. As much as I enjoy them and being someone who can make them, I don’t do it often. It takes literal hours, and sometimes days, to make them, only for them to be gone in seconds. All of that effort for something that will be gone so quickly.

If I really think about it, it is kind of what happens when we strive for things. We put in so much effort in over time, only to have the fleeting moment of success, before we move on to feeling empty. I believe this is why people say you have to enjoy the journey. How do you do that? Well?
To jump to a new topic, along the lines of croissants equaling France, Louis Vuitton (or LVMH) are in the works of creating a new hotel where their current offices are in Paris. Obviously, it would be a luxury experience but differing from their Cheval Blanc experience. That is likely at least five years down the line. However, now there is a concept, LV Dream, where you can experience a brand exhibit and, more importantly, the café through November 15, 2023.
Now, I am still waiting for a generous donation for me to experience this for myself and then share it with you here. I will just say, with my croissant experience, I have more appreciation for food as art and handicrafts overall. The labor is long, but the moments of joy are fleeting. My goal is to truly enjoy it all, wherever I am, no matter how expensive it was.
I’m putting it out there. One day I will go to Paris, enjoy a walk through the arrondissement and the baked goods the city has to off
er. And if that so happens to be at an LVMH hotel, so be it.
If you are curious about the café, here’s a video:
By the way, this is the croissant recipe I swear by.
